I am a firm believer of a red lip. Or a burgundy one…and yes, even pink. Lipstick in general is the second most important beauty topic to me, mascara being the first.
I can’t remember the last time I didn’t wear lipstick. Unless I am truly not leaving the house. I guess when I put on a shade of some sort, it makes my whole look. Removing my pale lips just makes me feel more complete. I don’t buy MAC or other expensive lines so I make sure to really test out the drug store lines. After a few months of being pretty consistent with the below brands, I thought now would be a good time to share!
Lorac Pro Liquid Lipstick (Matte Finish)
I use this mauve color (dusty rose 1695) as my everyday nude. And I mean I wear it all the time. Finding a great nude means it almost matches your lip tone but when it wears, it is not the most noticeable thing. In regards to how long this color stays on–it’s almost perfect! Normally it will wear if I eat something greasy or salad dressing…but barely!! I only touch up this brand once to twice a day! However, the bordeaux shade in this Lorac line, I’m not sure why, but it wears more than the mauve. It really is the best shade for going vampire dark but it just requires more upkeep. I really need to try more shades in this line for sure! You can find Lorac products at Kohl’s.
Revlon Color Stay & Ultra HD Matte
I have been using the Color Stay line the longest. But I feel like this lipstick just stays on! And I need my makeup wipes to remove it. This lipstick only has a limited amount of shades, which makes me sad. I wish it had more, because I only use two. It stays on for the whole day/night and with confidence, I don’t have to check it all the time. So since these are limited in shades, I switch to the Ultra HD Matte Finish line to get more colors. This line too stays on perfectly!
You can clearly tell I like a matte finish versus gloss.
Maybelline 14 Hour Lipstick
I mainly tried this line because of the perfect red shade. Not too dark but not too cherry red. Perfect!! Just like the others, it stays on to my preference. I feel like this specific line is going away though because on the Revlon site, there are only 4 shades. If that is the case, I will cherish this one while I can.

Love all of these! I am super new to lipstick, so it’s hard for me to justify spending $30 on a high end line. I love that all of these options are affordable and allow me to really experiment with both more of a natural, nude lip AND a bold lip. Thank you!

Ya!! I hear ya sister. Sephora actually has a really good return policy. I’ve purchased two bold colors and didn’t like them and returned so very easily. Just in case you want to try something other than drug store. XO
