So about a month ago, if you saw, I posted on my instastories how I was getting Cool Sculpting that day. I was going to post about this regardless but the overwhelming amount of questions made it apparent that people want to know more about this procedure!
When the Plastic Surgery Associates contacted me, I was skeptical at first. Given these “quick and easy” type of fixes don’t always work. And I’m pretty much scared of everything.
Disclaimer: I try to hit the gym about 4 times a week and this gave me even more motivation to stick with that since I didn’t want this work to be for nothing. And also, I fully support anyone in anything they want to do or not want to do to their bodies to feel their absolute best.
So what is cool sculpting?
Ultimately, you are permanently freezing away your fat cells and then your body naturally flushes them out. I took the below photo from CoolSculpting.com that gives a nice visual.
I pretty much knew right away what I wanted done (the love handles), but you still need a consultation. The associates made sure the paddles fit me properly and took the before photos.
The Procedure
Side note: I’m a huge baby so please do not take my pain tolerance as what this procedure really is haha
Alright so I got in there, the associate drew on where the paddle would stay for the 35 min duration of the procedure.
Here are the sexy surgery panties I warned you about! Fashionable for sure.
There is a protective “padding” that sticks to you to protect your skin during the procedure. It has jelly on it but is truly like a big sticker. So no need to worry about your skin, cause mine was fine.
When they first put the paddle on, it takes about 7-10 minutes of cooling before you go numb and then can’t feel anything for the remainder of the procedure.
So when she first put them on, I’m freaking haha. I didn’t know what to expect and in my mind, I thought I was going to get frostbite then go numb. Naturally expecting the worst. Side note, I faint when I get shots done so again, please don’t pay attention to the emotional factor of this. For those 7-10 minutes, I was so tensed up because I didn’t know what to expect. But I was given wine and chocolate so I shut up pretty quick.
At first, it just feels cold. And with the combination of the cold feeling and the sucking sensation of the machine, it’s just all around an interesting feeling. The cold feeling does get cold but nothing bad, which I was happy about.
Alright so above you can sort of see where that clear sticker is and the paddle. The paddle has a huge sucking motion to it so it can grab all the skin in that paddle area. It doesn’t hurt, it just feels funny.
The next 30 minutes or so, you just hang out and let this machine do its thing!
This is the next part where you are not supposed to pay attention to my emotions.
Once the procedure is done, the associate will remove the paddle and massage the area. This really works to wake up that area and get things moving. And this is when I cried lol. I don’t know why! It’s like being super cold then jumping in a hot shower. Plus I just tensed myself up and it felt good to cry okay? and the wine.
Anyway!
After The Procedure
I think it took about 5 minutes for that initial numbing to go away. They tell you to wear spanks for a while since this helps to keep things tight and such. My procedure was about a month ago and I am still wearing mine. I just want the best results.
Results usually take 8-12 weeks.
Like I said, I’m at about 5 weeks. When I wear high-waisted work out leggings, I feel like my love handles don’t stick out as bad as they did. Maybe its in my head, but I’m excited to take my after photos.
Q&A
Below I compiled the most frequently asked questions that I’ve received over the past month.
Q: How much does it cost?
A: Ummm, it’s not cheap? It’s roughly $500-$700 a paddle. And if you want your love handles done, that’s two handles.
Q: Do you get an indent in the treated area?
A: No, not unless you did a procedure on that area like 20 times haha
Q: Have you lost weight?
A: No, because this procedure eliminates fat cells, not make every fat cell in your body go away so you wouldn’t see a scale change. But I don’t have as many fat cells in my sides so they won’t accumulate fat
Q: Does it hurt?
A: Again, don’t ask me that haha, I wouldn’t trust my pain tolerance
Q: Where did you get it done?
A: You guys can set up a consultation with the Plastic Surgery Associates at their website: https://www.plasticsurgery.org

Thanks for explaining that the cold feeling is obvious, but is more interesting than bad when combined with the sucking of the machine. I’ve been thinking about boosting my self-confidence by having some sort of body sculpting procedure done soon. I’m glad I read your article because you definitely eased some of the concerns I had about trying cool sculpting!

Hi! So the sucking of the machine was just more weird I think haha, it didn’t hurt really but maybe everyone is different?
I hope you try it out! xo

It’s cool that there’s a protective pad that is used during body sculpting. My sister has been telling me about how she wants to get back in shape since she had a kid recently. I’ll share this information with her so that she knows a little more about the body sculpting process.
